Shorten URL Service

Current Functionality:

The application supports the Shortening URL service through third-party such as Bitly software to generate short links. The application will integrate with Bitly web services and generate short URLs in communications.

Enhancement:

As an added feature, the application now includes its own Shorten URL service, which speeds up the process of generating short links for long URLs and seamlessly redirects users to the original URL when they click. This service is tightly integrated with UniServe's existing SMS Client and WhatsApp Client, allowing for automatic generation and dispatch of shortened URLs in communications. Furthermore, the Shorten URL service collects detailed information about user interactions, such as click date and time, browser specifics, country of origin, IP address, and device type (mobile, computer, or tablet). These detailed metrics are extremely useful for creating insightful reports and understanding user behavior.

This Shorten URL service, which is deployed on public servers as well as client environments, ensures widespread accessibility and usage across multiple platforms. UniServe eliminates the need for third-party vendors for URL shortening by incorporating this service into the application, providing greater control and security over this critical functionality. Furthermore, the flexibility of this internal service enables simple customizations based on specific business requirements. Notably, the domain of the Shorten URL can be configured to represent the customer's brand name, especially when deployed on public servers on customer premises, thereby increasing brand visibility and trust.
